Live Nation Disappoints
In Atlantic City, The Doobie Brothers delivered an impressive performance. Tight rhythm section, strong vocals, good harmonies, and solid solos were highlights. However, there were issues with the sound reinforcement, particularly the vocal mix where harmonies overshadowed the lead vocals at times. Russo's role in the band raised questions - showcasing impressive technique and altissimo, but lacking in melodic play. Despite this, the band deserves an A+ for their passionate performance where they poured their hearts out with eyes closed.
Live Nation's handling of the event left much to be desired. Charging over $600 for a ticket and a meet and greet, the experience fell short. The meet and greet felt rushed, with a brief lecture on expected behavior, a superficial greeting with the musicians, and subpar photo opportunities. There was hardly any time for meaningful discussions about the music or band.
My confidence in Live Nation is waning. It appears that their focus is solely on profits, leaving much to be desired in terms of the overall experience.
